“Bread-making is one of my favourite activities that help me transition from workdays to time off.”

“I am a psychotherapist and workplace well-being practitioner and, like many of the people I work with, I’m often operating on the optimum setting. It’s also partly in my nature.

It can be hard to slow down. Practising daily meditation helps me enormously but even on days off, I still have to consciously intend to slow my pace down and return to a regular breath. This keeps my wandering brain from straying too far and ending up in overdrive.

Bread-making is one of my favourite activities that help me transition from workdays to time off. The slow process of sourdough is my favourite. It’s a full-day event and like with the breath, I regularly have to return to it, paying attention to the quality and texture at each stage.

And without exception, I’m rewarded with a sense of meaning and fulfilment at the end of the day.”
