Karen Peake

“Last year when the pandemic began, my daughter in law described how difficult it was getting for the intensive care team her Father works with. I decided I’d send them some cakes.”

“I’m happy in the kitchen, it’s my way of relaxing and the end results were going to people who needed a treat. I’m still sending cakes each week, a couple of fruit loaves, a coffee or chocolate tray bake and lemon or orange drizzle cake, last week parsnip and maple syrup cake went down well along with some chocolate chip cup cakes. Apparently there’s always a buzz of excitement when the bags of cakes arrive. I’m happy baking and it’s good to know the cakes bring joy in a very stressful place. So I’ll continue to bake cakes for the time being until we return to some kind of normal.“
