Fay & Emma

Their lives in the country

Fay and Emma are two personal trainers delivering outdoor fitness in the heart of Aberdeenshire. Their company, Match My Workout, is all about inspiring people to try new things and challenge themselves.

Their workouts are inspired by elite and professional athletes; the duo try these athlete’s training sessions and record the process, breaking down techniques for their clients.

Here, the ladies talk us through their favourite season in the countryside.

As we roll into the summer months, our outdoor sessions get busier. We would say it's because the weather improves, but in Scotland you can’t be so sure! One week we are in shorts and a T-shirt, slapping on suncream, and the next we have our rain jackets and hats on. Our clients are such a great bunch of committed guys and girls, and they turn up in all weathers to drag tyres, slam battle ropes, run trails and swing kettlebells.

For us, we love the summer months. The days are longer and lighter, so we have more hours to train into the evenings. Our aim is to make an impression on our clients during these months so they keep coming back for more when the winter comes. Who knew people loved to run hills and flip tyres so much?

This year has been a great one for us, as the social side of our fitness training is just as important as the physical side. As we are always outdoors, we were lucky that we could keep running sessions when the COVID restrictions eased. We wanted our sessions to become an escape for our clients, most of whom were used to a very tough situation in isolation. We worked hard to keep people safe and having fun and it really felt like the positive mental boost was what everybody needed during such a tough time.

Now, as we head into the middle of summer with restrictions easing, we have made new friends and continue to grow with fitness and challenges at the heart of what we do. We’re pleased to report that our clients have emerged from COVID a little stronger and fitter than when they started. Roll on the rest of the year!
